VTI has adopted a leadership model called the Board Goverance Model® invented by John Carver. The idea behind it is that Board Members are representatives of the ownership. They are also called Trustees as they operate in trust of the ownership.
The Board sets the Ends that the organization needs to achieve and the policies to achieve those Ends. They also limit the Means that they would find unacceptable.
Then the Board hires an Executive Director to whom they delegate the Means for achieving their Ends. Below is an overview of the areas of responsibility, and a breakdown of the model.
