Influence Your World!

A New Direction

We would like to share an important message from our Board (click here to read the full message):

The Venture Teams International board is concerned about the critical cash flow situation of the organization. To move forward in integrity requires immediate action. In light of this, the board is considering our options and we have taken steps to reduce all costs, including staff, and closing our Calgary office and consolidating operations to the Water Valley training centre (Discovery Lodge). We are also considering the future of the training centre.

We recognize the many years of God ordained ministry, and the call and gifting of our staff, team members, and supporters of VTI. Please join with us in prayer and trusting God for his direction and leading for all concerned.

The board is currently in dialogue with viable established organizations, including those who share a similar vision as VTI, with the goal of exercising wise stewardship of the present ministry and assets entrusted to VTI, and to deal with the organization's present financial indebtedness.
We are limiting our activities until we have a clear direction for the future. We will update you further as decisions are made and we are able to share these.

Brian Rushton, Board Chair
on behalf of the Board of Venture Teams International

The office will remain open until the end of May. Please call us at (403) 777-2970 or toll-free 1-800-565-3818 if you would like more information or would like to discuss this message with someone. Donations will be received until the end of May. Our website will remain up indefinitely.

Pura vida!

Michael, VTI team leader, reports on the recent trip to Costa Rica by a team from Westpointe Community Church in Grande Prairie:

Pura vida!
This is what they say in Costa Rica when asked how they are, how the day is going, how the meal was…. Costa Rica was full of special times to reconnect with several friends made during my visit in 2006…and meet several new people to be thankful for… pura vida!

It was a privilege to be in Costa Rica with the team (14 youth and 4 leaders) from Westpointe for 10 days! We were able to assist the church in La Fortuna (5 hours from San Jose, the capital city) in a number of ways, including a mixture of outreach and practical work, visiting people in their homes, handing out Bibles and praying with people (one of the highlights of my time there)!

During the door to door visits we invited the community out to our program, to share how Zaccheus had a life changing meeting with Jesus. It was clear that we were "reaping" the church’s persistent, prayerful efforts. For the first time, many people from the community came to the church's outreach efforts. After the program, the younger children sat in one group to make a paper tree craft with us, while the older children made a bracelet to tell the wordless book story.

Then he said to His disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
